What is The Happy Teacher Campaign?
The Happy Teacher Campaign is a valuable tool that encourages equal team communication at all levels,
resulting in feedback to foster positive changes for a better learning environment. When school districts
implement this program it allows teachers to voice their concerns.
Teachers in return work more effectively
with administrators to accomplish district goals. Their job satisfaction will reduce teacher turnover and
yeild positive results.
As a retired educator with 31 years of teaching experience, I have come to realize that the pursuit of
educational excellence requires change at every level. State achievement test scores continue to increase
and children appear to be learning more today than ever before. We have made great strides in meeting
children's academic needs. It has taken many people working together to obtain these results.
However, our nation and schools are still at great risk because there will be a major teacher shortage
in the near future. In 2010 fifty percent of all teachers will be eligible to retire. Texas alone needs
to hire 37,000 teachers each year. The lack of experience of new
teachers and constant retraining has created major costs to students,
taxpayers and school districts.
As leaders in education, we must realize that once again change is
needed to address this problem. In order for our schools to be
exemplary we must take positive action and support educators at all
levels by collaborating with them as a team.
